Actress Kangana Ranaut, now also MP for Mandi in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, claimed that she was slapped by a paramilitary policeman during a mandatory security check at Chandigarh airport.

According to sources, a policewoman from the Central Industrial Security Force – the paramilitary force tasked with securing airports across the country – named Kulwinder Kaur said she slapped her for “disrespecting” the farmers.

The actor and politician was travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi to collect his parliamentary pass and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) card ahead of his swearing-in ceremony on Sunday.

National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma said strict action should be taken against the CISF constable who slapped BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport, news agency PTI reported.

Ms Sharma said it was a serious matter as those responsible for security at the airport were violating regulations.

“Strict action must be taken against the CISF officer. We at @NCWIndia have discussed this matter with @CISFHQrs,” she said in a post on X.
