Grand Forks man arrested in connection with early morning axe attack and gun attack – InForum

GRAND FORKS – A 21-year-old Grand Forks man is being held on several charges after he struck another man with an ax early Saturday morning, June 1, according to police.

Grand Forks police said they responded to a 911 call shortly before 4 a.m. that a man had been attacked with a weapon on the south end of town.

After the initial investigation, they learned that Jayden Lloyd, 21, and another man, 23, were involved in an argument that escalated when the 23-year-old was struck with an axe. He was taken to Altru Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

According to police, Lloyd and a woman fled to their home at 506 Oak Street, where officers attempted to reach them. As officers approached the home, they heard several gunshots coming from inside. Moments later, officers saw Lloyd fire a handgun several more times through a window inside the home.

It later emerged that at least two of these bullets had penetrated the outer wall and entered the neighbor’s house.

The Grand Forks SWAT team arrived on the scene and Lloyd was arrested. The woman was unharmed and no other injuries were reported.

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
