Jefferson City man killed in crash on Highway 63 in Boone County

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

An accident closed one lane of Highway 63 in southern Boone County on Thursday and left a Jefferson City man dead.

Mark Locke, 50, died when his Chevrolet Traverse struck another vehicle while Locke was crossing Highway 63 at South Westbrook Drive near Eagle Knoll Golf Course. The force of the impact struck his driver’s side door.

The driver of the compact SUV that struck Locke’s vehicle, Nancy Beckman, 65, of Hollister, Missouri, suffered minor injuries. Her passenger, Mary Arnold, 63, also of Hollister, suffered moderate injuries. Both women were taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Locke was pronounced dead at the scene. It was unclear whether he was wearing a seatbelt.

The closed northbound lane of Highway 63 was reopened around 2 p.m.
