Ink thrown at police vehicle containing father of teenager involved in accident

Pune: Some people allegedly tried to throw ink at the police vehicle in which the father of a 17-year-old boy, whose speeding luxury car killed two software engineers in Pune, was being taken to a local court, an official said.

The incident took place around 2.30 pm when the father of the teenager, who was arrested on Tuesday night after being detained in central Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar town, was brought to the court complex in Shivajinagar area to appear before the additional sessions judge, he said.

The car, a Porsche, allegedly driven by the boy, who police said was drunk at the time of the accident, fatally ran over two software engineers travelling on motorcycles in the Kalyani Nagar area of ​​Pune city in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

“As per preliminary information, four to five people from a group tried to throw ink at the police vehicle accompanying the youth accused’s father,” a Pune police official said.

The car accident killed Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24-year-old IT professionals who hail from Madhya Pradesh and work in Pune.

Following the car accident, police had filed a case against the teenager’s father under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Section 75 deals with “willful neglect of a child or exposure of a child to mental or physical disease”, while section 77 deals with supplying intoxicating drinks or drugs to a child.
