Elderly LDS missionary dies after a traffic accident in California in which her partner husband was critically injured

FRESNO, Calif., May 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A couple serving as full-time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California were involved in a traffic accident Saturday that killed the wife and injured her Man.

Killed was Sister Mary Hardin, 65. Elder Paul Hardin, also 65, is hospitalized. The couple, from San Antonio, Texas, had been serving in the California Fresno Mission since January of this year.

The accident occurred when the Hardins were stopped at a red light and a pickup truck struck their vehicle at a high rate of speed. Sister Hardin died at the scene of the accident.

“We invite everyone to pray for those involved, especially Elder Hardin,” said a statement released Sunday by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the entire Hardin family, their friends and the missionaries with whom they served. We pray that all of you will find comfort and peace in this difficult time and feel the love of the Savior in this time of sorrow.”
