Shots fired at mall in northern Indiana

MISHAWAKA – Police are currently evacuating University Park Mall after a fight broke out inside where someone reportedly fired a gun.

Mishawaka Deputy Police Chief Dan Gebo said police did not find a victim or anyone with injuries, but they were clearing the mall store by store, evacuating passers-by and searching for victims or suspects.

“Right now I don’t have a person that’s been shot,” Gebo said. “We’re trying to clear the mall store by store and push these people out. Most likely the mall will be closed for the evening.”

“I have no victim. We’re looking for the suspect. If anyone knows who the suspect is, please call the police or dispatch center. Right now we’re just trying to get everyone out and clear the mall.”
