A tree trimming accident in Middletown leaves one person injured and another person trapped in the tree

Middletown Fire Chief Tom Snively said rescue crews were dispatched after a man fell 30 feet from a tree. Snively said the man instead fell from a ladder, perhaps 10 to 15 feet, after a portion of the tree fell and struck him.

An ambulance took the man to the atrium for treatment of his injuries. Snively said they were believed to be broken bones, but he believed the man would survive.

A second person was stuck in the tree after the accident.

Lt. John Scranton of the Middletown Fire Department used a tower ladder to rescue Nick Morath from a tree following the tree trimming accident.

Snively gave advice on pruning trees.

“I would say leave it to the professionals, people who are certified, insured and have liability insurance,” Snively said. “It’s very dangerous, especially a tree like this that’s dead, and very unpredictable.”
