Strong police presence in Rock Island

There was a heavy police presence in a Rock Island neighborhood late Thursday as our Quad Cities news team observed Rock Island police searching for and collecting evidence.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Ninth Avenue. Officers rolled out large amounts of crime scene tape and placed crime scene markers next to what appeared to be bullet casings.

We do not know if anyone was injured. We are staying in touch with law enforcement and will provide you with updates as they become available.
