Sexual assault in Queens: NYPD investigates rape of 13-year-old girl in Kissena Park in Flushing

QUEENS, New York (WABC) – According to police sources, an investigation is underway into the disturbing sexual assault of a teenage girl in a Queens park on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in Kissena Park in Flushing.

According to police, a 13-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were in a park near the corner of Colden Street and Kalmia Avenue when they were approached by a man who pulled out a knife and forced them to go into the woods.

According to police sources, the suspect tied them up, abused the girl and took their cell phones. The victims were able to leave the park and found a passerby who called 911.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital by emergency services.

Police sources said police from across the city gathered at the quiet corner of Flushing after the attack.

The police dog squad entered the park late Thursday in search of the suspect.

Police describe him as a man in his 20s, 5’5″ tall, with curly hair, wearing a black shirt, black pants, red sneakers and a green backpack. He appeared to have braces and had a large tattoo on his chest depicting either a wild boar or a pig.

No arrests have been made so far. The investigation is ongoing.
