GMC Srinagar, NIT Hazratbal order suspension of classes

Srinagar, June 6: The Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Thursday ordered suspension of undergraduate classes from June 6 to 8.

In a separate notification, the National Institute of Technology Srinagar has also suspended classes for today.

The Registrar Academics GMC Srinagar issued an order stating that undergraduate classes would remain suspended from June 6 to 8, 2024.

Notably, GMC on Wednesday said on its microblogging site, “In view of certain reports from GMC Srinagar, it is informed that the administration of GMC Srinagar has taken immediate cognizance of the matter. Pending investigation, the person concerned has been suspended with immediate effect.”

“An investigation involving 13 HODs/HOUs has been initiated to take necessary action as per rules. All concerned are requested to maintain peace and tranquility on campus,” GMC said.

The National Institute of Technology Hazratbal Srinagar has also suspended classes for today.

The statement stated that no student residing abroad would be allowed to enter the campus.

“Classes in the institute will remain suspended on 06.06.2024 (Thursday). No UG/PG/PhD student residing outside will be allowed to enter the campus,” said the Dean of Academic Affairs, NIT Srinagar.
