Officials call off search for two missing people after helicopter crash on Na Pali coast | Local

LIHUE, Hawaii (Island News) – The Coast Guard and Kauai County suspended their search Sunday afternoon for the two missing people involved in Thursday’s helicopter crash off the Na Pali coast.

Officials identified the missing people as 69-year-old Guy Croyden, pilot of the helicopter, and 60-year-old James Quintua, one of the passengers. The body of the second passenger, 53-year-old Amy Nichole Ruark Quintua, was recovered shortly after the crash.

“While this event was a tragedy for both the families and the community, I am relieved that our responders were able to collect some debris and conclude our search efforts, which could provide closure for everyone involved,” said Kristen Hahn, Coast Guard Commandant and Coast Guard Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator for Honolulu Sector.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
