Man dies in fireworks accident in La Salle County – Shaw Local

A 25-year-old man died early Friday in a fireworks accident in a rural area between Utica and Ottawa.

The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday that officers were called to an incident involving illegal fireworks at 3073 E. 12th Road at 12:26 a.m. The victim was taken to OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, where he later died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The victim’s name will not be released at this time pending further investigation and notification of his family.

The incident is being investigated by the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office, the La Salle County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Utica Fire Department and EMS also arrived on scene.
