Investigation into vandalism at Honesdale Borough swimming pool

Honesdale, Wayne County (WBRE/WYOU) — An investigation is underway at Honesdale Borough Pool after the facility was flooded due to vandalism.

As police announced on April 27, the municipality discovered that a 15 cm long piece of pipe had been deliberately sawn out of the complex water pipe system that supplies water to the swimming pool and the filter system.

The vandalism caused a large amount of water to flow through the severed pipes and damage the masonry of the pool and the filter area, investigators say.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Honesdale County Police Department at 570-253-1900. Councilman William McAllister is offering a $500 reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest for the vandalism.
