Rape: Teacher arrested for alleged rape and murder of domestic help in Lucknow | Lucknow News

Lucknow: A 14-year-old girl from Unnao, who had been working as a caregiver in the house of a government teacher in SGPGI district for the last six months, died under mysterious circumstances on July 15. Her family claims that she was raped and murdered by the teacher and his aides. Following a protest by the family members, police arrested the accused teacher Saurabh Singh on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East Prabal Pratap Singh said, “A case has been registered against Saurabh and others on rape and other charges. Saurabh has been arrested while a manhunt is on for the other accused. Police cited the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and provisions of the SC/ST Act.” The minor had studied up to Class 5. The teacher claimed that the girl was ill and was being treated for seizures at Lokbandhu Hospital. On July 15, she suffered a sudden seizure and was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead. Singh then informed the girl’s family. The victim’s mother claimed that by the time they reached Lucknow, the police had already conducted a postmortem examination on the body. The victim’s mother claimed that her daughter’s body had numerous injury marks and it seemed as if she was killed after being raped by the teacher.
