Man sentenced to 20 years in prison today for raping a minor in Sangareddy-Telangana

The POCSO Court in Sangareddy sentenced convict Itikyala Naveen (30) to 20 years imprisonment in the rape of a minor girl case reported in Patancheru in 2018.

Sangareddy: The POCSO court in Sangareddy on Monday convicted a man in a minor rape case and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment. Itikyala Naveen (30), a resident of Alwyn Colony in Patancheru town, was also fined Rs 20,000.

Naveen raped a five-year-old girl who lived in his neighbourhood in 2018. Following a complaint from the child’s parents, Patancheru SI Praveen Reddy had filed a case and arrested the accused.

Pronouncing the verdict on Monday, Judge K. Jayanthi said the convict would have to spend another year in jail if he did not pay the fine.

SP Chennuri Rupesh thanked the then DSP Sitram, Inspector Prabhakar, Court SI Satyanarayana, Superintendent of Police Venkatesham and Court Police Officer Kishan for their efforts in getting the conviction.
