NWS upgrades Eden tornado to EF2

The National Weather Service has classified the tornado that struck the town of Eden last Wednesday as an EF2 tornado.

The storm brought winds reaching up to 115 mph.

The town saw roofs ripped off houses on Sisson Highway and the total destruction of several farm buildings on East Eden Road.

“I would like to thank the first responders, public works employees and utility crews who have been working diligently since the storm hit yesterday afternoon,” Erie County Sheriff John Garcia said in a statement this week after asking non-East Eden residents to avoid the area as crews continue to clean up. “The damage caused by this tornado is heartbreaking, but I am confident that residents of the affected neighborhoods will be resilient as they clean up and rebuild.”
