2 dead, 19 injured in shooting at street festival in Detroit: police

No arrests have been announced and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

According to police, at least two people were killed and 19 others were injured when gunfire erupted at a street festival in Detroit early Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred about 2:25 a.m. during a street festival on the city’s east side near Wish Egan Field in the Mohican Regent neighborhood, police said.

Michigan State Police confirmed to X that the shooting left two people dead and 19 others injured.

State police officials said they were assisting Detroit police in the investigation through their joint homicide task force.

According to police, no suspects were arrested on Sunday afternoon.

Details of the shooting, including the motive, were not immediately released by authorities.
