Sheriff investigates dead child found near Sherwood Lake

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a dead child near Sherwood Lake.

According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, the Shawnee County Emergency Operations Center received a call shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, about an incident on Southwest Worwick Town Road. When police arrived on scene, a dead child was found.

Officers are currently on site investigating the incident. One adult is in custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, more information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
