Celebrities react to post about Kangana slapping incident

Kangana Ranaut, who has often publicly attacked Alia Bhatt, has found support in the actor after the slapping incident.

On Sunday, journalist Faye D’Souza posted on Instagram condemning the slapping incident, saying, “Regarding the incident where MP Kangana Ranaut was slapped at an airport, violence can never be the answer. Especially not in our country, which was born out of Gandhi’s ideals of non-violence. No matter how much we disagree with someone’s views and statements, we cannot and should not tolerate violence. It is especially dangerous when security personnel in uniform respond violently. Imagine if, over the last decade, those of us who have challenged power had been attacked at airports by police officers who agreed with that power.”

What Kangana Ranaut has said about Alia in the past

Kangana has often mocked Alia in her social media posts and interviews. In 2019, Kangana criticised Alia’s performance in Gully Boy, calling it “mediocre”. At the time, entertainment website Bollywood Life conducted a poll asking fans to vote for the best performance by an actress in 2019. Kangana won the poll with 37 percent of the votes for her performance in Manikarnika. Alia came second with 33 percent of the votes.

When the magazine contacted Kangana for her reaction on beating Alia, she said, “I am mortified… what can one top her Gully Boy performance… same sassy, fat (outspoken) girl… Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, women empowerment and good acting, please spare me this embarrassment. The media has taken the love of film kids too far. Stop coddling mediocre work otherwise the bar will never be raised.”
