Mumbai teenager arrested for raping 11-year-old girl and sent to juvenile home | Mumbai News

Mumbai police recently arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

According to police, the sexual assault occurred on May 23 when the victim went to a store after playing a game at a friend’s house.

A police official said, “The accused is an acquaintance of the victim. On May 23, at around 3.30 pm, the minor was standing near his house when he saw the girl going out. He asked her where she was going and when she said she was going to a shop, the teenager gave her a 20-rupee note and asked her to get him a cigarette. But when the victim refused, the accused grabbed her hand, dragged her into his house and raped her.”

The girl first informed her sister and then the two went to her married elder sister’s residence instead of going home.

The elder sister, 24, then took the girl to the police station and a complaint was filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Festive offer

The first medical reports confirmed that the victim had been sexually abused.

Police said the minor accused fled after committing the crime and was only recently arrested by police. He was then taken to a youth home.

“The victim is currently not in Mumbai and once she returns, we will record her statement before the magistrate,” the police officer said.
