23-year-old woman dies after dog attack in Limerick

A 23-year-old woman has died after a dog attack in Limerick.

Emergency services were called to a house in Ballyneety at around 11.40pm on Tuesday.

The woman was found injured after being attacked by a dog. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

Her body was taken from the scene to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where an autopsy will take place.

Gardaí said the animal believed to have been involved in the incident has since been killed. Several other dogs have also been seized.

Gardaí said investigations were ongoing and they were appealing for information.
