Woman arrested in Kentucky in connection with Virginia Amber Alert case

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Virginia woman is behind bars in Madison County, Kentucky in connection with a Virginia Amber Alert.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5800 block of Battlefield Memorial Highway for a motorist’s assistance.

According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Shane Johnson encountered a driver, 30-year-old Ashley Griffith, who needed a jump start on her vehicle. Griffith reportedly had a child in the car.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an Amber Alert had been issued in Virginia for an endangered missing person, Ashley Jordan Griffith, along with an arrest warrant for kidnapping.

Griffith, of Gate City, VA, was subsequently charged with resisting arrest and fugitive from another state. She was taken into custody and is being held at the Madison County Detention Center while the child was placed in the custody of Madison County Sheriff’s deputies.
