18 of 33 pilgrims from UP and Delhi injured in terror attack in Jammu | News from India

Eighteen of the 33 pilgrims injured in the militant attack on a bus in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening have been identified and most of them are from Uttar Pradesh.

The victims, including nine pilgrims who were killed, were on their way to Katra after visiting Shiv Khori, a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva near Ransoo, when their bus was fired upon by militants. After the attack, Mohita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, said that the driver lost control of the vehicle when the lying in wait militants fired at the bus and it fell into a ravine.

According to the authorities, 17 of the 33 injured are from Uttar Pradesh and one from Delhi. The identities of the remaining injured have not yet been determined.

Doctors treating them at the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu say they are all stable.

Apart from Shivani, 24, who hails from Delhi, three are from Gonda, Meerut and Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, two from Varanasi and one each from Ayodhya and Gorakhpur. Authorities have not yet confirmed where the four other injured pilgrims in Uttar Pradesh are from.
