Safety Matters: McCreary Modern Reaches 10 Million Accident-Free Hours

NEWTON, N.C. – McCreary Modern, a family- and employee-owned ESOP furniture company based in Newton, N.C., has achieved what it says is a major milestone in safety performance: a total of 10 million hours without a lost-time accident. This is a result of the company’s safety culture, which encourages employees to take responsibility for all aspects of safety performance.

“We are extremely proud of each employee and owner’s contribution to achieving this remarkable milestone,” said Rick Coffey, President and COO. “This reflects true commitment and acceptance of each individual to a culture that considers the safety of all.”

McCreary Modern operates seven manufacturing facilities in Catawba and Caldwell counties in North Carolina and employs more than 850 full-time employees.

“This is an incredible feat that few manufacturers ever achieve,” said Charles Cauthen Jr., senior vice president of McCriff Insurance Services. “It reflects the seriousness with which McCreary Modern has invested in creating a safety-based culture.”
