Police officer spat in face by suspected thief: Police

(KRON) – A suspected thief spat in the face of a handcuffed police officer, Colma police said.

On June 7 at 3:53 p.m., Colma police officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard for a report of a theft at a retail store. Officers were told the suspect was a known thief. According to Colma police, officers were told the suspect took several items and ran toward the exit.


Officers waited for the suspect outside the store. When the suspect exited the store, officers attempted to make contact with him. However, the suspect attempted to elude officers on foot.

The suspect was arrested after a brief chase. The suspect resisted arrest as officers handcuffed him, according to Colma police. After the suspect was handcuffed, police said he became more combative and spat in an officer’s face. He continued to spit at officers and threatened to harm them, police said. Police handcuffed the suspect.

The suspect was identified as a 19-year-old San Bruno resident. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for resisting an officer with threat or violence, resisting an officer and petty theft.
