Two Connecticut men face animal cruelty charges after their pets were found starving and dead

In a house, police found 11 emaciated dogs and 3 cats that urgently needed medical attention.

ANSONIA, CT — Two Ansonia men face multiple charges, including animal cruelty, after investigators discovered several severely neglected dogs at a home on Condon Drive last week, police said.

On June 6, authorities executed a search warrant on the home in connection with an unrelated criminal investigation and found 11 emaciated dogs and three cats in need of urgent medical attention, police said.

One dog was found dead and will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Two dogs later had to be “humanely euthanized as they were in extreme health conditions” despite efforts to save them, police added. Several other dogs are still receiving treatment.
