Man dies after accident with Lynx bus in Orange County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash after a driver was struck and killed by a Lynx bus in Orange County on Wednesday. According to police, the crash occurred between a Lynx bus and a car on N Econlockhatchee Trail and Valencia College Lane in Orange County. According to evidence, the Lynx bus was traveling southbound on N Econlockhatchee Trail and approached the intersection of Valencia College Lane in the left-turn lane. At the same time, according to police, the driver of a car was traveling northbound on N Econlockhatchee Trail and approached the intersection of Valencia College Lane in the outside lane. The driver of the Lynx bus attempted to turn left to head east onto Valencia College Lane, at which point the right front of the bus struck the car. The bus veered off the roadway and collided with a concrete wall. The other car was overturned and struck by a pedestrian traffic light, the FHP said. Police said the man who was driving the car was pronounced dead. The bus driver, who was a 59-year-old Orlando man, and five other bus passengers were not taken to the hospital. The incident prompted a road closure in the northbound lanes of N Econlockhatchee Trail. The accident remains under investigation.
