MARLBOROUGH – A fatal fire at a Marlborough home is under investigation.

According to a news release from Fire Chief Kevin Breen, Police Chief David Giorgi, Fire Marshal Jon Davine and Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan, the fire department responded to 66 Nolan Way at 8:23 a.m. on May 22.

When firefighters arrived, the home was “well involved” and there were fire vents coming from the rear left corner of the home. Firefighters moved forward to fight the fire and search for occupants. Firefighters found one adult deceased.

According to the news release, most of the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes and was under control within half an hour.

Investigators believe the fire started in the living room on the first floor. However, the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victim’s cause and manner of death. Another resident was displaced.

“On behalf of the Marlborough Fire Service, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one this morning,” Breen said.

The Hudson and Southborough fire departments provided mutual aid, and Northborough provided station coverage.
