Anderson man arrested for causing fire | News

SHASTA COUNTY, California. – Michael Wright, 45, was arrested June 22 on charges of reckless starting of a fire, CAL FIRE said.

On June 22, CAL FIRE/Shasta County Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire on Coleman Fish Hatchery Road.

Fresh scratch marks were found throughout the fire area, CAL FIRE said.

After an investigation, the tracks were traced to a house where a truck with a trailer was parked, CAL FIRE said.

The trailer had significant damage consistent with being dragged along the paved road and was missing a tire, CAL FIRE said.

Wright was identified as the driver of the truck and trailer, CAL FIRE said. He admitted to driving over four miles with a defective and damaged tire and was then taken to the Shasta County Jail.

Wright was sent to prison for the following reasons:

  • Illegal arson on a forest property
  • Reckless driving
