Several people arrested after major brawl in Storm Lake

Several arrests were made following a brawl in Storm Lake involving about 20 people.

According to Storm Lake police, officers were called to the incident in the 600 block of Chloe Lane around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday morning. Some of those involved in the fight were reportedly armed with handguns. Police discovered three people with facial injuries. One of them was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

It was determined that a male victim was traveling in a vehicle in the area of ​​the 1500 block of Sugarcreek Lane just before 3 a.m. Tuesday when he approached several people walking in the street. One of the people approached the vehicle, resulting in an argument, and a suspect punched the victim in the face while he was sitting in the vehicle. The victim drove away and a large crowd of people followed, encountering the victim after he parked. The victim was attacked by several people, resulting in severe facial injuries, including multiple broken bones.

Several people from a nearby residence attempted to intervene, at which point the group of suspects began to attack them. One suspect allegedly threatened others with a handgun. The suspects fled the scene on foot and were pursued to a residence at 725 Lilly Court in Storm Lake. A perimeter was established and several suspects left the residence after approximately three hours. Two handguns were found in the residence, one of which was reportedly stolen by Cherokee.

Odoll Agowa, 20, of Storm Lake, was charged with first-degree robbery (a Class B felony) and remanded to the Buena Vista County Jail on $40,000 bail… Titus Mulgae, 20, of Storm Lake, was charged with unauthorized possession of an assault weapon (a Class D felony) and accessory after the fact (a misdemeanor) and remanded on $7,000 bail… Chuol Gatluak, 24, of Storm Lake, was charged with first-degree robbery and riot (a Class D felony) and willful injury (a Class C felony) and remanded on $50,000 bail… Jamuo Gatwech, 22, of Storm Lake, was charged with first-degree robbery, riot and willful injury and remanded on $35,000 bail. Three other adults and three juveniles from out of town were also charged. The juveniles were taken to the Cherokee Youth Emergency Services Center.

The BV County Sheriff’s Office assisted. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
