Nicholas C. Brown

Nicholas C. Brown, 34, of Jamestown is facing numerous charges after a pursuit that led to him striking two police vehicles and later fighting with officers.

At 12:50 on Sunday, officers of the Jamestown Police Department observed a vehicle commit numerous traffic infractions and then accelerate away from police who observed these infractions. Officers then attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle failed to comply. The pursuit lasted an extended period of time and the operator, who was later identified as Brown, nearly struck multiple police officers with his vehicle. The pursuit ended when Brown struck a marked New York State Trooper vehicle, an unrelated parked vehicle and then a marked Jamestown patrol vehicle head on.

Brown then actively fought police in an attempt to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, Brown was taken into custody. Brown was charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful fleeing from police in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and second-degree criminal mischief.

Brown was held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail due to his prior criminal history.
