Falcons sign DE Kenny Oginni, release OT Ryan Swoboda

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive end Kenny Oginni, the team announced Thursday.

Originally from Nigeria, Oginni has been designated as an international player for the Falcons for the 2024 season. This means he will not count against the 90-player off-season limit.

The first time Oginni did anything football-related was at a 2014 camp sponsored by defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who played for the New York Giants from 2003 to 2012 and the Falcons from 2013 to 2014. Oginni has since participated in NFL-sanctioned events, such as an International Player’s Combine and the International Player Pathway program. In 2022, he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, but did not make any permanent roster cuts.

Oginni has yet to play in a professional game.

The Falcons also announced the release of Ryan Swoboda on Thursday. The offensive tackle was signed to a reserve/future contract in January.
