Rhode Island man dies in police chase after being accused of murdering his wife

HOPKINTON, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island police say a man wanted for the murder of his wife was killed during a chase over the weekend. Authorities on Friday obtained an arrest warrant for Joseph Francis in his wife’s death. Westerly police spotted Francis driving Saturday and tried unsuccessfully to stop him. About an hour later, officers from the Richmond and Charlestown police departments tried again to stop him. During that chase, Francis failed to negotiate a curve and rolled his vehicle several times. Police found him dead in the vehicle. He was wanted on charges of domestic violence and murder, as well as domestic violence and violating a restraining order.
