Michael Rooker remembers the death of “Walking Dead”

Michael Rooker and Kevin Costner have something in common, apart from appearing together in the new film Horizon: An American Saga – Part 1. Both were also written out of popular television series, but for Rooker, there’s nothing wrong with moving on.




Rooker is known for his role as Merle Dixon, the older brother of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in the successful zombie drama The Walking DeadMost recently, Costner played the lead role in the acclaimed series Yellowstone before quitting the final season, a move he attributed to scheduling issues with his new film. In a recent conversation with TMZ, Rooker was asked about Costner’s Yellowstone departure and compared it with the way he had personally left The Walking Dead.

Rooker was a big part of The Walking Dead in the early years, especially in the first and third seasons. Merle didn’t make it very far in the 11-season series, as he sacrificed himself in Season 3 in an attempt to take out the Governor (David Morrissey). Nevertheless, he is still well remembered by fans of the series. Despite this, he also called the film “real cinema” and believed that people will enjoy the film if they give it a fair chance.


“He’s brilliant at it,” Rooker said of Costner. “He’s a brilliant director and he has the ability to choose the best crew. Don’t wait too long. Watch the film. You’ll enjoy it.”
