Sheriff: Third suspect arrested in connection with theft of Stanley trophies valued at $1,000

A third arrest was made in connection with the theft of over $2,000 worth of merchandise, including over $1,000 worth of Stanley trophies, from a sporting goods store in Butler County earlier this month. Sheriff Richard K. Jones of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Damone Maston, a 21-year-old resident of Dayton, Ohio. Maston was taken into custody near Germantown Pike in Dayton on a warrant for theft, classified as a fifth-degree felony. Prior to the arrest, officers located Maston in a vehicle, where they discovered the suspect, a firearm and additional stolen merchandise in his possession. Maston is the third suspect involved in the Liberty Center incident. In a video post on Facebook earlier this week, Jones said two suspects – Taneka Brown and Sinaj Williams, both of Dayton – were arrested on warrants. In neither the Facebook video nor an official press release did the department specify what charges Brown and Williams face, saying only that they are charged with a fifth-degree felony related to theft. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page from earlier this month, Brown, Williams and Maston are accused of stealing 28 Stanley trophies and 10 Bogg bags at around 8:37 p.m. on May 9 before running out of the store a few minutes later. In total, the trio is said to have stolen $1,160 worth of Stanley trophies and $860 worth of Bogg bags. Officers say Brown and Williams were involved in another theft on April 2 of this year, in which Stanley trophies and Bogg bags were stolen from the same Dick’s Sporting Goods, this time valued at around $600. As the investigation progresses, Jones said, they expect to file additional charges against Maston.
