OAKLAND – Police here have identified a local resident who was killed in a shooting in broad daylight late last month.

Hodari Lyons, 25, was shot around 1:25 p.m. on April 27 and was pronounced dead later that afternoon. According to police, the suspect or suspects fired about ten shots and then sped off in a vehicle.

Authorities were alerted to the shooting by a gunshot detection device near the 6900 block of Hamilton Street in East Oakland. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting, but not Lyons; At that point, he was already on his way to Highland Hospital, police said.

No arrests have been announced and authorities have not said whether they have discovered a motive for the shooting.
