Two murders within a few hours trigger investigations in Kiryat Ata – Crime in Israel

According to Israeli media, two young men in their 20s were murdered in broad daylight on Friday afternoon in front of area residents and passers-by in Kiryat Ata, about three hours apart.

A preliminary investigation revealed that in the first case the victim, 22-year-old Aviv Elimelech, was already known to the police in the area of drug-related crime.

As usual, Elimelech arrived at the neighborhood convenience store where the murderer sat, who apparently knew of Elimelech’s presence or had received information about it.

The murderer drove past on a scooter, shot the victim and fatally injured him.

Immediately afterwards, the murderer fled the scene and the medical team had no choice but to confirm Elimelech’s death at the scene.

Second murder in three hours

About three hours later, while police were investigating, another murder occurred in Kiryat Ata.

Videos shared on social media show that the attacker in this case also appeared to be riding a motorcycle when he shot Ariel Bar, a 29-year-old man also known to police.

Bar fell onto artificial turf at a local market with a soda can in his hand and was fatally injured.

It seems that in this case too, the murderer knew his exact location, shot him and escaped.

Following the two murders, which as mentioned occurred within a short time difference, the coastal district commander, Superintendent Danny Levy, conducted a situation assessment and ultimately commissioned Coast Guard investigators to investigate.

The district commander ordered an increase in the number of police officers in the area to complete the investigation using technical means and reach the murderers.

“We will not let the criminals rest for a moment. We will reach out to you and settle accounts with you soon. Get ready, we are on our way to them and will make sure they stay behind bars for many years to come.”

Police are investigating whether there is a connection between the incidents and whether Bar’s murder was a revenge killing against Elimelech a few hours earlier.
