Alex Shelley fuels WWE rumors with “spoiler alert” during indie show

Rumors have been circulating about the future of the Motor City Machine Guns since their most recent TNA run ended earlier this year. Talks intensified when Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin went on a farewell tour of sorts on the independent circuit. The latest reports suggest that the legendary tag team will soon be signing with WWE.

At a show in San Francisco on Saturday (July 20), Shelley gave an unspecified taste of what’s to come and the latest hint that MCMG’s indie days are coming to an end… at least for now.

After putting Alpha Zo in the spotlight on a card co-promoted by West Coast Pro Wrestling, Deadlock Pro and Prestige, the former TNA World Champion did a promo in which he said:

“Spoiler alert: I may not come back here. And if I don’t, I know the future of pro wrestling is safe and secure in a West Coast pro ring. I’ve talked too long and the last thing I want to say is thank you for the last two and a half years.”

Besides Sabin, Shelley has at least one more indie date booked – in Ontario on August 18th.

Which tag division will the Guns target next? AEW is also said to be interested in Sabin & Shelley, but the fact that they’re skipping out on these indie stops could be an indication that the Detroit natives will be chasing their WWE dream.

We should get our answer soon enough.
