10 children involved in chase and crash in central Georgia; 4 flown to Atlanta hospital in critical condition – WSB-TV Channel 2

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Four children are in critical condition at an Atlanta hospital after a chase and crash in central Georgia.

Bibb County deputies said they were called to reports of someone breaking into cars around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

They spotted the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer involved in the burglary and learned it had been reported stolen the day before. Officers tried to stop it, but the driver began chasing them.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper performed a PIT maneuver on the car and it crashed into a utility pole.

The driver, Jakhori Jamal Woolfolk, 17, tried to flee but was arrested.

MPs say there were a total of 10 people in the car at the time of the accident.

The ten people in the car are all under 18. Their ages range from 11 to 17.

Four of the children, two 13-year-old boys, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, were all flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where they are listed in critical condition.

An 11-year-old boy was also taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Three other boys, aged 12, 13 and 14, were taken to the youth detention centre and charged with theft, receiving stolen property and breaking into a car.

Woolfolk was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with theft by receiving stolen property – auto.
