Woman found dead in overturned vehicle in river in Sac County

No foul play is suspected after a woman was found dead in a vehicle in a river at a Sac County park.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office was notified shortly before 10:20 a.m. today (Friday) of an overturned vehicle in the North Racoon River near Hagge Park. The vehicle, a red 2003 Jeep Cherokee, was pulled from the river by a tow truck. The deceased woman was identified as 30-year-old Samantha Trimpe of Breda.

Based on tire tracks at the scene, the direction the vehicle was traveling indicated that there had been no sudden braking or change of direction before it fell into the river. Trimpe’s body will be sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sac City Police Department, Sac City Fire Department, Sac County EMS and the Sac County Coroner.
