Very warm and humid on Wednesday; chances of rain several times until Saturday

A heat warning is in effect for Nassau County and northwest Suffolk until 8 p.m. with perceived temperatures of 35 to 38 degrees.


According to meteorologist Sam Augeri of the News 12 Storm Watch Team, hot and humid weather will persist this week, with some tropical downpours in the offing.


Headlines:

  • Very warm and humid weather will return. Hotspots will be on the north coast, mist and low cloud could linger on the south coast and East End again on Wednesday, keeping numbers low and well below warning levels.
  • There is a chance of rain. First, we will have some showers late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, which will clear up again Thursday afternoon. There is a chance of tropical downpours late Friday night into Saturday morning. Currently, the location of this heavy rain is mainly to the south and east, but we will need to monitor trends closely.
  • Sunday will be the better weekend day with hot temperatures and slightly lower humidity until next week
