Dogs shot by DPD officers after they “attempted an attack”

DALLAS – Two dogs were shot after attempting to attack a Dallas police officer, the Police Department confirmed Saturday.

Dallas police responded to a call about an animal attack in the 5100 block of Bexar Street around 4:45 a.m. Saturday. A victim reported to police that he had been bitten by two dogs. When officers encountered the dog owner, “the dogs attempted to attack the officer,” police said in an email to WFAA.

An officer shot both dogs, DPD confirmed, and both dogs died. The victim, who reported being bitten, was transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DPD said.

According to DPD, no officers were injured.
