Man shot at Jacksonville Fairgrounds during Jumbo Shrimp game and Westside High School graduation ceremony – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was shot at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

According to investigators, officers arrived at the intersection of Georgia and Duval Streets around 7:30 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe the victim was involved in an argument when the suspect shot him. The suspect was quickly arrested by officers near the scene, and police said the incident does not pose any further threat to the community.

While the shooting was taking place, the Jumbo Shrimp game was taking place nearby at 121 Financial Ballpark and Westside High School was holding its graduation ceremony at Vystar Memorial Arena. However, investigators said the incident did not pose a threat to either event. Likewise, neither the suspect nor the victim were present at the game before the shooting.
