Serious accident on 17.92 in Haines City blocks road for several hours

Polk County Fire Department, Haines Police Department and Haines City Police Department were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on 17/92 near the Highway 27 exit. The 911 call came in at 3:35 p.m.

According to Zachary Hamelton, spokesman for the City of Haines City, the accident involved two vehicles, including a pickup truck. According to Hamelton, the pickup truck was the catalyst for the accident and eventually rolled over. The male driver was transported as a casualty but is said to be in stable condition. The other driver was also transported for medical care but was not transported as a casualty.

The road was closed for several hours while HCPD units remained on scene while vehicles were removed from westbound US 17/92.

The road is now open.
