One dead and two injured in accident Friday on I-95 in Sebastian

One person was killed and two injured in an accident Friday afternoon on I-95 southbound in Sebastian.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said the 1:45 p.m. crash occurred when a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, stopped in the inside lane with its hazard lights on, was struck by a 2021 Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Corolla, a 29-year-old woman from Melbourne, was attempting to move into the middle lane when her car struck the front left of the Malibu. The Malibu left the road and struck a railing. The Corolla overturned, police said. The driver, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, died at the scene.

The driver of the Malibu, a 33-year-old man from Lake Park, and a passenger in the Corolla, a 31-year-old woman from Melbourne, were taken to Sebastian Medical Center with minor injuries.
