A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Nuneaton.

West Midlands Police were called shortly before 9.30pm (BST) on Saturday after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed on Queens Road.

The victim, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital by ambulance but later succumbed to his injuries, a police statement confirmed.

Lead investigator Det Ch Insp Katie Reynolds said: “A murder investigation is now underway following this tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family.”

Ms Reynolds added that no arrests had been made but that an investigation was ongoing to determine the circumstances of the death.

She urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact police.

Residents have also been told to expect increased police presence near the scene while officers conduct their investigations and a large police cordon remains in place.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

An autopsy will be carried out in the coming days, police said.
