Shooting in Madison high-rise, several injured

Several people were injured in a shooting in Madison early Sunday morning.

According to Madison police, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. at the Lux, a high-rise apartment building.

Officers were initially dispatched to a large party taking place on the roof of the building. They were on their way to the building when dispatch informed them that shots had been fired.

Dozens of people ran screaming from the building as officers approached. Officers ran up twelve flights of stairs to reach people and help them.

At least ten people were injured, although not all of them were gunshot wounds. The victims are between 14 and 23 years old.

People are still calling the emergency services to report injuries or seeking medical help at nearby hospitals. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Police believe this was a targeted incident and the suspect is still at large. The Violent Crimes Unit is leading this ongoing investigation. Investigators are currently speaking with victims and witnesses and reviewing digital evidence.
