NORRIDGEWOCK – A Fairfield man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle was struck by a turning pickup truck on Ward Hill Road just before 3:30 p.m.

According to police, 29-year-old Brock Peters was riding his red 2005 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on the road that connects Norridgewock and Mercer when he was struck northbound by a 2006 Ford F-150 truck trailer, whose driver was Frederick Landry, 79, of Norridgewock.

Somerset Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Mitchell said Landry drove into the path of the oncoming motorcycle as he turned into a driveway. Landry, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

“It almost looks like a head-on collision,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell said Peters was pronounced dead at Redington-Fairview General Hospital, where he was taken by hospital emergency medical services. Peters was wearing a helmet.

Following the accident, Ward Hill Road was closed and was expected to remain closed Wednesday evening while the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office reconstructed the accident. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
