Suspect arrested on attempted murder charges after stabbing brother in Redding | News

REDDING, California. – A man was arrested for stabbing his brother to death early Monday morning in Redding.

At approximately 12:54 a.m., Shasta County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at a home in the 17000 block of Paradise Lane, the sheriff’s office said.

Dispatch was told that 34-year-old Flynn Zachary Jones stabbed his 58-year-old brother, the sheriff’s office said.

When officers arrived on scene with medical teams, they began providing medical care to the victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso and abdomen, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses were able to identify Jones as the suspect in the stabbing and said he left the scene on foot, the sheriff’s office said. They couldn’t say the reason why Jones stabbed his brother.

According to the sheriff’s office, someone matching Jones’ description was believed to be in the 12000 block of Lake Boulevard. Officers were able to make contact with Jones and arrest him.

Jones had blood on his body and clothing, the sheriff’s office said. He was asked questions about his involvement in the stabbing but denied involvement. Jones said the blood came from a fall.

Officers did not find any injuries consistent with a fall, the sheriff’s office said.

Jones was arrested and taken to Shasta County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.

Jones’ brother was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
