First Alert Weather Team is monitoring isolated showers, tropical moisture possible late this week – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Action News Jax’s First Alert Weather Team is expecting some showers today and the possibility of tropical moisture later this week.

First Alert meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh expects a dry Monday morning with temperatures around 21 degrees. Later, temperatures will reach highs of around 27 degrees on the coast and below 35 degrees inland.

Bedenbaugh says isolated rain showers are possible today due to easterly winds from the Atlantic.

Onshore winds will gradually increase throughout the week, and a high risk of rip currents and increasing surf is expected each day. Thursday’s weather will depend on what happens in the tropics.

Some showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist until next weekend.

As for the tropics, there is a broad low pressure system in the southwestern Atlantic later this week. Clusters of showers and storms or a disorganized tropical storm will move westward toward the southeastern United States.

Bedenbaugh says it’s too early to give specifics, other than to say that beneficial rain, gusty winds and rough beach weather could be in store, peaking Thursday. The location and intensity of any rain or storms will be highly uncertain until a storm forms, if one does. Right now, signs point to a disorganized area of ​​showers and storms.
